You use router everyday, but do you use it correctly? Why your router not use well but other’s router use well? Do you know how to use router correctly?
How to place router in the home
1. Place it in empty place: the signal emitted by the router spreads around so you’d better keep it far away from obstructions such as cabinets and walls, and put it in the center of the living room where there is no debris
2. Keep it far away from electronics products: mobile, computer, microwave oven, TV set, induction cooker, wireless mouse etc. all emit electromagnetic signals directly, wifi signal will be disturbed if you put the router among them.
3. Place it at a suitable place off the ground: wifi signal will be blocked by chair or sofa etc. easily if you put the router at too low place, the best place is 1 meter high from the ground and empty place.
How to place router antenna?
Since the antenna radiation on both sides is the best, no matter how many antennas your router has, the best placement is to place the antennas vertically. Most of home routers use 4 antennas, 2 of them is 2.4g wifi antenna and another 2 is 5.8g wifi antenna, keep all the antennas vertically in order for better signal, in this way can guarantee the greatest extent of signal coverage.
Should the router be restarted regularly?
Yes, you’ve to restart the router regularly.
1. Internal cache will be increased if router is always on. There is cache area in the router, the data will become more and more to cause data transfer speed slower and slower.
2. If router always on will cause internal overheating. Even router transmit power is low, if not turn off for long time, heat will be accumulated accordingly, it’ll affect working efficiency when heat reach to some degree.
3. The life will become shorter if router always on. Accessories will gradually aging if router keep on working, even 100M optical fiber may become “turtle speed”, network delays, internet speed become slower etc. will come.
4. Should the network cable be replaced regularly?
You’ve to use Cat 5e or Cat 6 network cable which support 1000Mbps when broadband is upgraded to 200Mbps, Cat 5 or below network cable can support 100Mbps maximum, so you’ve to replace the network cable, otherwise the internet speed couldn’t reach 1000Mbps.
How to identify a full Gigabit router?
1. WAN/LAN port Gigabit;
2. Wifi support 2.4G and 5.8G both;
3. Wifi protocol support Wifi 5(802.11AC) or above;
What’s the mean of dual band wifi?
Dual band wifi means one router can supply both 2.4G and 5.8G wifi in the same time.
2.4G wifi features: channels less, interference more, transmission distance is longer;
5.8G wifi features: speed high, channels more, interference lower, coverage area is smaller.
