Mobile wifi and home router are two different network equipment, the usage and function is also different.

Mobile wifi: normally mobile wifi is small size, easy to carry, suitable for personal or few people moving process, for example in travelling, cafes, library, bus, train and some place without fixed network connection etc..

Home router: used in fixed place such as home, schools, enterprises etc., couldn’t move.

Home router: normally installed in one fixed position, supply stable home or office network coverage, hasn’t flexibility as mobile wifi.

User’s quantity and scope

Mobile wifi: support few people, can connect few people at same time, coverage scope is small.

Home router: can connect more people at same time, suitable for home or office, coverage is big, can meet more people’s requirements.

Functions and settings：

Mobile wifi: usually has simplified functions which convenient for customer to set fast and connect quickly, not so complicated as home router.

Home router: has rich functions and setting options, such as port forwarding, firewall configuration, QOS etc., users can manage network flexibly

Network type：

Mobile wifi: normally support 4g/5g network, used to provide mobile internet connectivity

Home router: normally connect to a fixed broadband or fiber optic network,  to provide home or office local area network services.

Generally speaking, portable mobile wifi is more suitable to provide convenient network connections when moving, while home routers are more suitable to provide stable and wide-area network coverage for homes or offices.
