Router 4g lte cpe is a wireless communication router that uses 4G wireless network to provide function of data network transmission for users. Although main function of home-grade and industrial-grade 4G routers are to provide Internet access functions, they’re quite different from each other in actual use.

1.Stability different

Ordinary router 4g lte cpe couldn’t reach high stability of industrial cellular router, industrial cellular router need work long time without any problems, can repair itself when a network failure occurs. But ordinary router 4g lte cpe couldn’t work long time as it is prone to network outages, especially in outdoor environment.

2.Different requirements for environment

The working range of general router 4g lte cpe is -10 to 60 degrees, which can usually meet requirements, but it cannot be used in harsher environment such as in winter in the north, the general outdoor environment may not be able to be used normally. But industrial cellular router use different design and different components so it can work in -35 to 75 environment.

3.Hardware different

General router 4g lte cpe have RJ45 interfaces only, can provide networks to devices with network ports only. Many devices have no network ports but serial ports only in industrial control field, these devices cannot use router 4g lte cpe so have to use industrial cellular router. In addition, industrial cellular router must be designed with electromagnetic isolation, anti-static, and wide voltage to have stronger anti-interference capabilities.

4.Software function different

Generally, home routers can provide ordinary internet access only , while industrial cellular router need to have more functions because they are used in different industrial control fields, such as DMZ, static NAT, port forwarding, VPN, firewall, load balancing, watchdog etc..

Therefore, if an enterprise need to use 4G router in a project, it is highly recommended not to use a router 4g lte cpe. Although router 4g lte cpe is cheaper can save a little budget, but problems caused by the stability of router 4g lte cpe will be exposed during using continuously, and the longer they use the more obvious they will be.
