4g lte router industrial, also known as diameter selector, is a device that completes interconnection at network layer. It is more complex than wireless bridge, has stronger heterogeneous network interconnection capabilities and greater flexibility, connection objects include LAN and WAN. 4g lte router industrial has two typical functions, data channel performance and control function. Data channel function include sending decision, backplane sending and output link scheduling etc., which is usually completed by specific hardware. Control function usually achieved by software, including information exchange with adjacent router, system management and system configuration etc. .
Switch
Switch is a network device that can complete function of encapsulating and sending data packets based on MAC (hardware address of the network card) identification. Nowadays switch divided into Layer 2 switch, Layer 3 switch or higher layer switch. Layer 3 switch can also act as router, can even send faster rate than low-end router, its main feature is router once and send many times.
To connect networks with each other, some intermediate devices or systems will be used which called relay system. According to the level of the relay system, there are five types of relay systems as below:
1.Physical layer (often called the first layer, layer L1) relay system which is transponder.
2.Data link layer (second layer, layer L2) which is wireless bridge or bridge.
3. Network layer (the third layer, layer L3) relay system is 4g lte router industrial.
4.Mixture of wireless bridge and 4g lte router industrial called bridge router which has function of both wireless bridge and 4g lte router industrial.
5. Relay system above network layer is gateway.
When relay system act as repeater, it isn’t called network interconnection as this is just addition of a network, but it is still a network. Because high-level gateways are more complex so they are rarely used, we usually refer to network interconnected by switch and 4g lte router industrial when discussing network interconnection.
For 4g lte router industrial and switch, the main differences are as follows:
1.Work level different: Original switch worked at data link layer of OSI/RM open architecture, which is actually the second layer. 4g lte router industrial were designed to work at network layer of OSI model from the beginning. Because switch works on second layer of OSI (data link layer), its working principle is very simple, while 4g lte router industrial works on the third layer of OSI (network layer) so can get more protocol information and make more intelligent sharing decisions.

IP addresses are generally assigned automatically by network administrator or the system.
3.Traditional switch can only divide collision domains but not broadcast domains; 4g lte router industrial can divide broadcast domains: Network segments connected by switch still belong to the same broadcast domain, and broadcast data files will be spread to all network segments connected by switch, which may cause communication congestion and security vulnerabilities in some cases. Network segments transmitted to 4g lte router industrial can be divided into different broadcast domains, and broadcast data will not cross 4g lte router industrial. Although switches above the third layer have VLAN function and can also divide broadcast domains, communication between sub-broadcast domains is not possible, and communication between them still requires 4g lte router industrial.
